The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has upheld the outcome of the 2025 Elective Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirming the leadership of Dr. Kabiru Turaki as the party’s substantive national chairman.
Delivering judgment in Suit No. I/1336/2025, Justice Ladiran Akintola ruled that the convention was conducted in line with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), and other relevant electoral laws.
The court granted all 13 reliefs sought by the claimant, Folahan Malomo Adelabi, through his counsel, Musibau Adetunmbi (SAN).
The court also dismissed motions for stay of proceedings and suspension of the judgment filed by Sunday Ibrahim (SAN) on behalf of Austin Nwachukwu and two others. Justice Akintola had earlier declined their application for joinder, describing it as lacking merit.
With the ruling, the court has effectively validated the convention that produced the Turaki-led National Working Committee, bringing clarity to the party’s leadership structure.
