The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 4,423 new voters have been registered so far in Anambra State as part of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.
Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Awka, noting that the exercise has been ongoing for four weeks across all 21 local government areas of the state.
She expressed satisfaction with the turnout so far and emphasized that the exercise is aimed at preparing for the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Agwu attributed the success to collaborative support from political parties, media, and other stakeholders.
The INEC boss encouraged eligible residents aged 18 and above to register promptly to avoid last-minute rushes, noting that the registration, which began on January 5, is scheduled to conclude on April 17, 2026.
The exercise forms part of the Commission’s policy to expand voter participation and strengthen democratic processes in the state ahead of the general elections.
