The Labour Party has restated that it is not currently operating any social media account, warning the public against fake platforms claiming to speak for the party.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Interim National Chairman of the Party, Ken Eluma Asogwa in Abuja.
According to the statement, the party attention was drawn to a fraudulent X account using the name LABOUR PARTY (LP) NIG with the handle @LabourpartyNGR_.
It says the account is falsely presenting itself as an official platform of the party.
According to the statement, the account had earlier been disowned in February, but the operators allegedly changed the name and handle to continue misleading the public.
It explains that its only known social media accounts are Facebook: Labour Party-Nig and X: LabourPartyNG, both of which are currently inactive.
The statement adds that steps have been taken with the Nigerian Police to recover control of its official X account.
The statement stresses that all official information is presently released only through press statements from the Office of the Interim National Chairman.
It advises Nigerians to ignore messages from the fake account and other unauthorized platforms.
