Labour Party has distanced itself from nomination forms reportedly being distributed by former National Chairman, Julius Abure, describing them as invalid
This is contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ken Eluma Asogwa in Abuja.
The statement warns party members and aspirants against dealing with unauthorized persons.
It says the party had received several enquiries following the circulation of photographs on social media showing Abure presenting what he described as Labour Party nomination forms to some individuals in Abia State.
The statement maintains that Senator Nenadi Usman remains the authentic National Chairman of the Party and all legitimate nomination forms for the 2027 general elections can only be obtained through the party’s official National Secretariat in Utako, Abuja.
According to the statement, any form obtained from Abure or any unauthorized source should be regarded as invalid, alleging that unsuspecting aspirants were being misled by individuals posing as party officials.
It therefore urges members of the public to exercise caution and avoid transactions outside officially recognized channels.
The statement also questions why the alleged activities were largely concentrated in Abia State, insisting that the party’s national leader and Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, will not succumb to intimidation or political pressure.
The statement further describes Abure’s continued claim to the office of National Chairman as unlawful and warned that the matter could attract legal consequences.
It adds that the law enforcement agencies and the courts will ultimately determine the issues surrounding his actions.
