The Labour Party has released the list of chairmen and members of its electoral subcommittees ahead of its forthcoming ward, local government, and state congresses across the country.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the acting National Chairman of the party, Ken Eluma Asogwa in Abuja, says the ward congresses are scheduled for 23rd April 2026, local government congresses for 24th April, and state congresses for 25th April 2026.
According to the statement, the subcommittees are made up of experienced members tasked with ensuring the smooth conduct of the congresses in their respective states.
It also announces that its national convention will hold on 28th April 2026 in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to the statement, the National Chairman of the party, Senator Nenadi Usman, charges members of the subcommittees to conduct their duties with fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to the party’s principles of social justice and equal opportunity.
Meanwhile, the party has also welcomed a Court of Appeal judgment in Abuja which dismissed the appeal filed by Barrister Julius Abure challenging the leadership of the party.
The appellate court upheld the earlier decision of the Federal High Court which recognised Senator Nenadi Usman as the legitimate leader of the Labour Party, in line with a previous Supreme Court ruling.
The court also held that the appeal lacked merit and amounted to an abuse of court process, imposing a fine of ten million naira on the appellant for wasting judicial time.
Reacting to the judgment, Senator Usman described the ruling as a victory for democracy and the rule of law.
She commended the judiciary for upholding justice and maintaining constitutional order within the party.
She also thanked party members nationwide for their loyalty and urged them to remain focused ahead of the upcoming congresses and national convention, as preparations continue toward the 2027 general elections.
