The Labour Party has announced April 28, 2026, for its Presidential primary, with State congresses slated for April 25 and Local Government Area (LGA) and Ward congresses for April 24 and April 23 respectively.
The schedule was communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a letter signed by the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Sen. Nenadi Usman, in Abuja.
Senator Usman said the new timetable follows the postponement of earlier party activities to allow wider participation of members and completion of the ongoing digital membership registration process.
According to Usman, the national convention will take place at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Abia State, while the Commission has been urged to ensure effective monitoring of all congresses in line with its statutory mandate.
She reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening democracy and ensuring transparent electoral processes in Nigeria.
