Stakeholders in governance, policy, and development have called for a renewed commitment to purposeful, transparent, and accountable leadership as a critical step towards Nigeria’s growth and stability.
The call came at the Leadership Renaissance Forum themed “Reimagining Leadership for National Development,” where participants stressed the urgent need for transformative leadership capable of addressing the nation’s pressing challenges and improving the welfare of citizens.
The convener of the Forum, Dr. Abdullahi Johnson noted that leadership remains central to national survival, institutional development, and economic progress, emphasizing that governance must focus on delivering practical solutions to the people.
He described the initiative as timely, saying, “Nigeria is at a point where leadership must move beyond promises to measurable impact.

Dr. Johnson said the concept of leadership renaissance goes beyond changing individuals in positions of authority, but involves renewing the nation’s values, systems, and institutions to make them more responsive and people-oriented.
According to him, Leadership renaissance means rebuilding trust in governance by ensuring transparency, accountability, and service to the people.
Dr. Johnson said citizens must stay vigilant, reject misinformation, and share credible intelligence with security agencies.
He urged leaders to “take full responsibility by solving challenges facing the country,” adding that national security, civic responsibility, and nation-building are essential for sustainable development.
One of the guest speaker, Mr. Samson Opaluwah, described the initiative as timely, saying, “Nigeria is at a point where leadership must move beyond promises to measurable impact.

On his part, the former governor of Kogi state, Captain Idris Wada stressed that “Leadership renaissance means rebuilding trust in governance by ensuring transparency, accountability, and service to the people.
The forum ended with a collective call on political leaders, public office holders, and institutions across Africa to embrace visionary leadership, saying the future of the continent depends on leaders who prioritize the needs of the people over personal interests.
