The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stood in as the representative (wakili) of the bridegrooms while Emir of Gwandu, Rtd. Major General Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar stood in as the representative (Waliyi) of the brides.
Governor Nasir Idris, while thanking his wife, Hajiya Nafisa Idris, for the initiative under her foundation “NANAS” promised to support and sustain the annual programme for the good of Kebbi people.
The governor adviced the couples to be fair to one another and respect each other’s opinion.

On his part, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu, described the occasion as a reminder to well meaning individuals in the society for them to look inward and ask themselves how many people did they assist to get married in their respective communities.
Also speaking, the APC National Secretary, Dr Tajuddeen Bashiru, observed that, the couples were not only getting married but also getting empowed by the state government.
He stated that, Kebbi State Government is not only marrying off 300 couples but empowering 300 families to become self reliant.
