Former President of the United Nations General Assembly, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, and foreign scholars will lead discussions at the maiden International Conference of the Department of Mass Communication, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), on media and Artificial Intelligence.
This is contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the Organising Committee and former Director General of Nigeria Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Dr. Danladi Bako, in Abuja.
The statement says the conference will bring together academics, media professionals and policymakers to discuss the role of media in national development in an increasingly digital world.
According to Dr. Bako the gathering is expected to generate fresh ideas and policy recommendations on media, Artificial Intelligence and national development.
The statement adds that major highlight will be the keynote lecture by Professor Kehbuma Langmia of Howard University, Washington DC, United States and will feature paper presentations, panel discussions and the unveiling of the maiden edition of ALKALAMI Journal of Communication and Media Studies.
The conference, themed “Media and National Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” will begin with a pre-conference lecture on June 7 by Professor Fatma El-Sayed of Cairo University, Egypt while the official opening ceremony is scheduled for June 8 at the University Auditorium in Sokoto, with Prof. Muhammad-Bande serving as chairman of the event.
