The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF), Hajiya Fatima Shinkafi, for her leadership and innovative contributions to Nigeria’s economic development.
The commendation was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the institute led by Hajia Lami Tumaka,
The Chairman of the planning committee for the Institute’s maiden International Women’s Day, Hajia Lami Tumaka, gave the commendation when she led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of SMDF, in Abuja.
Tumaka who lauded Shinkafi’s leadership at SMDF, citing achievements including a $1.3 billion investment agreement between the Federal Government and the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), which she said reflects the growing impact of the Fund on the nation’s mineral development agenda.
Tumaka also praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing women to strategic positions across government, describing the move as a demonstration of commitment to gender inclusion.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund, SMDF, Hajia Fatima Shinkafi stressed the need for deliberate mentorship to prepare young women for leadership roles, noting that investing in women is essential for national development and for building a new generation of competent female leaders.
She also acknowledged the support of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, for creating an enabling environment that allows women in the solid minerals sector to thrive.
The 2026 NIPR International Women’s Day event is themed “Communicate to Balance: Gain Equity, Empower Women.”
