The Labour Party has unveiled governance expert and policy strategist, Dr. Chibuzo Okereke, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party said Dr. Okereke emerged through a broad-based consensus among party members and stakeholders, a decision affirmed in Abuja.
Announcing the development to newsmen, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ken Eluma Asogwa, described Okereke as a seasoned governance professional with extensive experience in public policy, legislative administration and institutional reforms.
According to the party, Dr. Okereke is the President of ERGAF-AFRICA Legislative Governance Innovation and Policy Hub, a policy and legislative research institution, and currently serves as a legislative consultant to committees and ranking members of the National Assembly.
He is also a lecturer in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Miva Open University, Abuja.
Asogwa noted that Okereke holds a doctorate degree in Legislative Governance Studies as well as master’s degrees in Public Administration and Legislative Studies, both earned with distinction.
He added that his contributions to governance, public accountability and national development have earned him recognition as a respected policy analyst and commentator on national and international platforms.
The National Publicity Secretary, further cited his involvement in youth empowerment, educational development and democratic reforms as evidence of his commitment to nation-building.
According Asogwa, Okereke’s emergence reflects its commitment to presenting competent, accountable and transformational leadership capable of addressing Nigeria’s governance and development challenges.
