Residents of Abuja’s Wuse II district have warned the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) against demolishing disputed properties, citing a court order directing all parties to maintain the status quo.
The residents, led by Nnennaya Okeke, filed a suit against the FCT Minister and Corporate Ideals Properties Limited at the FCT High Court in Garki.
Their lawyers said the court, in an order issued on April 2, 2026, directed all parties to refrain from taking any action that could affect the properties until the case is determined.
They warned that any demolition carried out despite the order could amount to contempt of court.
According to the claimants, some of the affected buildings have existed for more than 30 years and are currently occupied.
The residents urged the FCTA, AMMC and other parties involved to obey the court order and avoid actions that could escalate the dispute.
As of the time of filing this report, the FCTA and AMMC had not responded to the allegations.
