The Stop TB Partnership Nigeria, has put in place mechanisms to end the spread of tuberculosis (TB) in Nigeria
Acting Board Chairman of the organization, Dr. Queen Ogbuji Ladipo, stated this at a briefing ahead of the 2025 World TB Day, in Abuja.
Dr. Ladipo who stressed the need for increased investments in TB control, noted that Nigeria must take ownership of the fight against the disease amid declining donor support.
“In light of dwindling international funding, we must strengthen domestic resource mobilization, implement stronger policies, and explore innovative financing mechanisms to sustain progress,” she emphasized.
She further called for sustained media engagement, community participation, and policy-driven solutions to accelerate the eradication of TB.
In a goodwill message, the Director Public Health in the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Godwin Ntadom reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to intensified screening, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures to curb TB spread.
In his presentation, the Team lead, Communicable and non- Communicable disease who representing the World Health Organization (WHO) in Nigeria, Dr. Mya Sapal Ngon pledged continued support in updating TB control strategies, strengthening partnerships, and capacity-building efforts.
Also, Chairman, House Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, Mr. Amobi Ogah, assured National Assembly commitment to policies and legislation that enhance TB care in Nigeria.
