President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the newly sworn-in Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rt. Honourable Andy Burnham, on his assumption of office.
In a congratulatory message, President Tinubu also commended the Government and people of the United Kingdom for a peaceful, orderly and seamless transfer of power, describing it as a reflection of the strength of the country’s democratic institutions and constitutional tradition.
The President recalled his productive engagement with the immediate past British Prime Minister during his official visit to the United Kingdom in March 2026, expressing confidence that the new administration would build on the gains of that engagement.
President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the United Kingdom and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
He also said he looked forward to meeting Prime Minister Burnham at the earliest opportunity, both bilaterally and within the framework of the Commonwealth, to advance strategic partnerships for the benefit of both nations.
The President assured the new British leader of Nigeria’s readiness to work closely with his administration in promoting shared priorities and addressing common global challenges.
The Federal Government also wished Prime Minister Andy Burnham a successful tenure in office.
