The Nigerian military has recorded further gains in ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East, with the neutralisation of two senior commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during precision air strikes in Borno State.
Security sources confirmed that the operation targeted terrorist positions in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa general area.
Those reportedly neutralised include Ali G3, identified as the group’s qaid in charge of Yuwe, and Abdullahi Muga, also described as a senior figure within the ISWAP command structure.
The air interdiction mission was executed by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI following Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that identified the location as a command hub and logistics base.
The strike was conducted using precision-guided munitions after confirmation of the targets.
Initial battle damage assessment indicated that the targeted structures, believed to serve as operational and logistics facilities, were destroyed.
Earlier reports had also confirmed the deaths of other senior operatives in the same operational cycle.
Military authorities say the sustained intelligence-led operations are part of broader efforts to dismantle terrorist leadership networks, disrupt logistics supply chains, and consolidate security gains across the North-East theatre.
