The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) International Media Conference, Dr. Danladi Bako, says all is set for the institution to host its first International Media Conference.
A statement signed by him in Abuja says the conference will bring together renowned media scholars, researchers and communication experts from across the world to discuss the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on media and national development.
According to statement, the conference, which will take place at the university’s main campus, is themed “Media and National Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.”
It explains that the event is being organised at a critical time when societies across the globe are grappling with the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies.
The statement adds that the keynote address would be delivered by Professor Kehbuma Langmia of Howard University, Washington DC, while the pre-conference lecture will be presented by Professor Fatma El-Sayed of Cairo University, Egypt.
It states that the conference will also feature technical sessions and paper presentations by distinguished scholars, including former Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Kashere, Professor Umar Pate, and the Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University, Sokoto, Professor Mukhtar Umar Bunza.
According to the statement other expected presenters include Dr. Ola Ifatimehin of Bayero University Kano and Dr. Sam Unwana Akpan of the University of Lagos.
According to the statement, Dr. Bako notes that the conference marks a significant milestone for the Department of Mass Communication, coming five years after its establishment and accreditation.
Also the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Jibril Gwandu, assures participants of adequate preparations for the event, expressing confidence that the conference will attract global attention and further enhance the university’s reputation in media and communication studies.
According to the statement the conference is expected to attract academics, media practitioners, policymakers and students from within and outside Nigeria.
