The Zamfara State Government has established the NYSC State Governing Board to enhance coordination with the Scheme, improve the welfare of corps members, and boost the impact of national service in the state.
The announcement was made by Governor Dauda Lawal at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I NYSC Orientation Course in Gusau.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Tasiu Musa Shinkafi, the governor highlighted that the initiative underscores his administration’s commitment to youth development and support for the NYSC Scheme.
He further disclosed that the next tranche of state allowances for corps members has commenced and assured that all participants serving in state ministries, departments, and agencies will benefit.
Governor Lawal praised the discipline, teamwork, and impressive parade displayed by corps members, urging them to carry the values of patriotism, unity, and integrity into their places of primary assignment.
He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and security of corps members throughout their service year.
NYSC State Coordinator, Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmed, commended the governor’s support and noted that the orientation course, which began on January 21, 2026, was successfully conducted without incident. Corps members were exposed to paramilitary drills, leadership and citizenship education, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), health and security awareness, and lessons on Zamfara’s culture and traditions.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders, marking a successful conclusion to the orientation programme
