Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to partnering with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to curb the circulation of fake and substandard products.
The governor spoke at the Government House in Osogbo while receiving the Osun State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Mr Stephen Aina, and members of his management team.
Governor Adeleke described NAFDAC’s role as critical to public health and consumer protection, especially in tackling fake drugs and unsafe food items.
He assured the agency of the state’s full support in strengthening enforcement, public awareness and compliance with regulatory standards.
The governor also encouraged residents to act as whistleblowers by reporting outlets involved in the sale of counterfeit drugs, stressing that NAFDAC must operate transparently and without compromise.
On a request for NAFDAC’s inclusion in the State Security Council, Governor Adeleke said the matter would be carefully considered to enhance coordination and public safety.
Earlier, the Osun State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Mr Stephen Aina, thanked the governor for his support and appealed for additional logistics to improve the agency’s operations in the state.
