The Obi–kwankwaso OK, Movement has rejected what it described as allegations by the National Chairman of the NDC, Senator Cleopas Moses, saying the movement remains independent.
This is contained in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Saadatu Mohammed Sani, in Abuja.
The statement says it recognises the role of political parties and will support NDC candidates where it has decided to do so.
It, however, states that such support does not mean that the movement depends on the approval of any individual.
According to the statement, the movement has its own leadership, structure, ideology and internal processes.
It also states that it was not seeking political appointments or positions within the NDC as a condition for its support.
According to the statement, the movement has built a grassroots structure and has about 2.5 million registered members and coordinators, based on its internal records.
It add it will continue to defend its members and principles while avoiding personal attacks and defamatory exchanges.
The statement calls the Chairman of the NDC, Senator Cleopas Moses to withdraw statements it considered defamatory and apologise to the movement and its National Director-General, John Ozyl Ughulu.
According to the statement, he movement says it will not compromise its standards or surrender its independence.
